Description

The Laxmi(Goddess Lakshmi inspired) is an original Sambalpuri cotton saree woven in deep blue and black, carrying the Bandhakala technique across every thread. Shankha, Lakshmi paado, and Lakshmi yantra motifs mark the body with quiet devotional intent, while the Phula-filled pallu completes the weave with restrained clarity.

The Craft Behind Laxmi(Goddess Lakshmi inspired)

This GI certified Sambalpuri saree is made through the Bandha process — a double ikat method in which both warp and weft threads are resist-dyed by tying before a single pass on the loom begins. Each thread is measured, bound, and dyed in sequences so that when weaving starts, the motifs emerge simultaneously from both directions with precise alignment. This is the Bandhakala process, practised by Bhulia weavers in Odisha across generations. A cotton Bandha saree of this complexity requires 10 to 15 days on the loom. The rudraksha border is not printed or embroidered — it is woven in, thread by thread, as part of the same resist-dye plan.

Wearing Laxmi(Goddess Lakshmi inspired)

Mercerized cotton holds a gentle sheen without weight, which means the saree drapes in controlled folds and breathes across the body in warm conditions. The hand is firm enough to hold pleats and soft enough to move without stiffness. As a Sambalpuri saree for wedding ceremonies, the Lakshmi yantra and paado motifs carry cultural weight that speaks without ornament. As a Sambalpuri saree for puja, the shankha and Lakshmi symbols connect the wearer to a specific devotional tradition. As a Sambalpuri cotton saree for office, the blue-black palette and structured weave read as composed and considered. The saree measures 5.40 metres with a 43-inch breadth and includes a matching blouse piece.

Pasapali documents each authentic Sambalpuri handloom saree with a Government of India Handloom Mark and GI certified origin.
